Attacked by a green monster of a navigation beacon

Spalax 2 colided with a four-meter navigation beacon head on at 11:45 pm. The beacon got wedged between the two hulls of the catamaran, its point sticking through the aft netting. We were stuck fast. I made a pan pan emergency call on channel 16, sent a DCS distress signal and activated the EPIRB.  At 8:15 am next morning the New Caledonia rescue team boarded us and dislodged the green beacon from under our boat. Once again we were on our way to our final destination, Noumea, New Caledonia.
