A gendarmerie launch visited me this morning. Someone on board was taking photos of my boat, so I took out my camera and started takin pictures of their boat.
“Why are you taking pictures of our boat?” asked the gendarme.
“Why are you taking pictures of MY boat, ” I replied.
We soon simmered down to a civil conversation. In fact, they had a journalist on board who wanted to know how we were coping with the quarantine.
My only complaint was that I couldn’t buy any fresh fruits and vegetables. A gendarme directed me to a website where I could download a derogation to the quarantine, which i promptly did, and dinghied over to the Johnson supermarshé. I was intercepted by another squad of gendarmes. Once I waved to them my derogation, they let me through and I was able to get my supply of fruits and vegetables and vitamins (if you’ve ever been to Cuba, you know what what I mean).
